The Tour Is Over: Day 7

The tour has came to an end. As I've mentioned in my previous post, my father is away in Afghanistan. Well, his tour has came to an end. Soon he will be back in the United States. The bad thing about it is, he still won't be with his family. My father is stationed/lives in Alaska. So, when he comes back from deployment he will be going straight to Alaska. I'm very excited and inpatient for his arrival.

Dr. Jill Biden, Vice President's wife talks to CNN about being a mother to a solider. She explains to CNN how she thinks about her son every second of the day. Her perspective is very important and as a mother of a soldier she supports military families. I really like this video. Now I can realize what my grandmother goes through everyday. As I've grown up I realized the sacrifice milirary families go through. Its a tough situation. Families like mine just have to stay strong and keep the faith! Why Do Our Parents Join The Military: Day 5

Have you ever wondered why your mother or father joined the military? I have, I questioned my dad about why he joined the military. He explained, by telling me that was the best thing for him. He didn't like school so, college wasn't an option (not a shocker) and he still wanted to be successful. The army was a great place for him, and as a "Military Brat" I think it was a great place for him, too. I wouldn't be the person I am today if he didn't join the Army! Thanks, Dad (:

DEPLOYMENT!

Wow.  January 9th, 2012 was a tough day for my family and I. My father, Command Sergeant Major Haney deployed to Afghanistan. That day was full of tears and disappointment. Families like mine go through a lot of heart-aches. Others (civilian families) just don't realize it.

Huffington Post Article: US Military Deaths in Afghanistan at 1,750

The Huffington Post publiahed an article January 10, 2012 about 1,750 military soldiers have died in Afghanistan since 2001. This article makes me realize how many people risk their lives to protect our country. 1,750 families loss someone special that apart of their life. Just realize one person out of 1,750 people could've been your mother or father. Think of something you could do to help these families. TAKE CHARGE.

Living Conditions: Day 3

Have you lived on a military base all of your life? Well, most "militay brats" have. Do you think its better to live on a military base or in a surrounding area? From my persepctive its better to live in a surrounding area. I like to meet people that are not military. Myself, I live near Fort Bragg and I meet people everyday that are not military and they act the same towards me. Going to a school off a military base is very diffrent from going to a school on a military base. If you live on a military base want to experience the life of living and going to school off a military base. Sit down and talk to your parents. I'm sure they'll think its a great idea.
